Hélicéa - Boulogne’s new leisure centre With a state-of-the-art swimming pool AND skating rink, Boulogne has a new sporting facility that's also attractive to visitors. Opened in 2005, the complex is located in Saint Martin's district near a junction off the A16 autoroute Swimming pool Hélicéa has a 25 metre ten lane pool for 'sporty' swimmingwhich can also be used for training and competitions. If you want to relax and play, there are bubbling spas, an artificial "river" with current, sauna, a solar beach… Ice skating For ice-skating, Hélicéa has a huge 800 sq m2 surface, with several additional spaces for specific purposes. The principal Lighting, a sound system and the bar, transform the skating rink into a disco-dancing space on ice on Saturday evenings. For body maintenance there is balneotherapy, sauna, UVA.

The architect Jean Michel Ruols is the originator of the "Climatic Gardens". He has also worked for the Astérix park, thermal baths in Andorre and various swimming pools in France.
