Wild dunes
South of Boulogne, the French coastline changes from tall cliffs to low-lying sand dunes. You can walk for miles in a wild environment of sandy beaches and tall dunes, and explore the salt-water lakes and sandy pine-forests inland from the shore.

A fragile environment
This environment is fragile: too many visitors could erode the grasses and vegetation that bind the sand together and stop it being blown away - or washed away in a storm.

A special wildlife habitat
The sand dunes are also home to many creatures and to special sorts of plants that have adapted to this unique sandy environment.

Study them at Aréna - the study centre for the sand dunes - and find out what you can see in a walk along a guided trail through the dunes.

exit 28 from A16 motorway (sign to 'Etaples-Le Touquet'
follow signs to ; Saint-Etienne-au-Mont',
then "Aréna' or 'camping de la Warenne'.

OPEN all year for groups (if booked in advance)
1 Mar - 31 Oct:
In French schools term-time:
OPEN Mon-Fri: 8.30am - 12.30 and 1.30 - 5.30pm
also 1st weekend in month:
10am - 12.30 and 2 - 6pm
In French schools holidays:
CLOSED Mondays
Open Tue-Sun: 10am - 12.30 and 2 - 6pm
CLOSED winter (except for booked groups)
