Make your own paper! The river powers a waterwheel, used to drive wooden stampers that prepare the pulp for making paper here in the old-fashioned way. You've seen the paper-maker stir the vat of pulp, spread it out over a guaze to drain out the water, then press it into a flat sheet. Your tour has covered all the history of paper and how it
used to be made. |
You've also seen displays of high-tech machines that today make paper on a mass-production scale - and examples of the variety of products made by the paper and packaging industry (which is important in this region). Programmes of activities can be arranged for groups of different ages. Back to top |
