Aux Pêcheurs d’Etaples
Julian Lucas - your guide to eating and drinking on theotherside

Traditional moules-frites

Fresh oysters

Fishermen’s co-op

A seafood brasserie, near Boulogne's walled old town and the massive fish markets.
Small fishing boats from Etaples land fresh fish and shell-fish daily, ready for market - or to sell in their own restaurants, run by the fishermen’s co-op. Famous for their fish soup, they offer a varied menu in a maritime decor - making the most of each day’s catch. You can choose “brasserie” type meals, like the favourite mussels and chips, try the oyster bar, or the chef’s fish dishes.

1. Etaples fisherman out in the Channel. 2. Landing the fish catch at night. 3. Wonderful variety of fresh shellfish from the beaches of the Côte d’Opale

...We ate at this restaurant this weekend, for what I realised was the 4th time! Over the years it has remained consistently good. The food is great, wonderful fresh seafood, lovely puddings, all reasonably priced. The service was nice and friendly too. In fact, I'm now trying to figure out how to fit it into my next holiday!..

... We were not sure about the decor outside but love seafood.
Fixed menu with crevettes followed by Fruits de Mer and crème brûlée was 25 Euros and so fresh and full of flavour.
Wines were high quality and good value.
Service was "exceptional"..
