In the heart of Lille, guests enter the M. Jean PROYE's restaurant via the fishmonger's shop. You'll find it in the cobbled lanes of Lille, amongst beautifully restored Flemish buildings.	The "most handsome fish restaurant in France" With Desvres earthenware and Mathurin Méheut mosaics, the restaurant looks more like a Roman bath with sumptuous tiles, seaweed and live shellfish - it is a beautifully decorated homage to the fruits of the sea. L'Huîtrière serves absolutely fresh fish and mouthwatering desserts - the service and quality of food is outstanding - if a little pricey.
It is difficult to spend less than 300FF a head for a superb meal. The wine list is very good but expensive. M. Proye's son has his own restaurant nearby.
